FEMME COLLECTION INSPIRATION
My new “Femme” collection is dedicated to my mother and all the fearless women who have inspired me, and transformed me. The Collection of 27 looks which featured the brand's signature of hand embellishments, French laces and sequins was hailed as innovative, bold and sensual. Huffington Posts described my use of red and strong design as reminiscent of older Valentino collection. FEMME Collection features the image of a strong, powerful and fearless woman who embraces challenges and who takes on adversity with style and grace. The Collection emerged from my mother’s own story of struggle when she had to teach herself how to sew, hiding outside a class to learn the art of making pattern back in Vietnam. It was the only way she knew how to earn an income in order to feed her family and sent me to school. My mother was the ultimate Betty Tran woman. I want to create a collection that makes a woman feel proud of being a woman and celebrate our uniqueness without compromising on the brand’s DNA which are elegance, sophistication and feminine. For me, a proud Vietnamese-Australian, the Collection emerged from my mother’s own story of survival in war-torn Vietnam. With the door to the world closed, many Vietnamese who remained after the war, did what they could to survive. My mother, who couldn’t afford to go to school, hid outside a pattern-making class to learn the art. It was the only way she knew how to earn an income in order to feed her family and sent me to school. My mother was the ultimate Betty Tran. The Betty Tran brand’s message therefore, is about empowering women. A Betty Tran woman is a strong woman who is proud of who she is, no matter where they come from or what age, or their skin colour. A Betty Tran woman celebrates and embraces our uniqueness without compromising on the brand's DNA which are classic, elegance, sophistication and feminine. I believe my brand and my design will speak to many women in the market. Wearing a Betty Tran designed gown, skirt, pants, top not only accentuate a woman’s femininity but that behind the beautiful design, fabrics and embellishment there is a strong and powerful story.
