Paloma Álvarez and Juanjo Mánez are two professional designers and creative directors of luxury pret á porter and haute couture that have been working for established Spanish fashion labels. Nowadays, using all that experience as couture designers, they have created Malne, their own luxury label of pret a porter and haute couture, an specialised firm with limited edition garnments for premium clients.
Paloma Álvarez and Juanjo Mánez have a long experience as designers and creative directors for fashion shows at Madrid Fashion Week (MBMFW) the most important fashion event in Spain.
Their experience also includes regular contributions with prestigious publications such as Vogue or Elle, together with the most renowned international photographers (Vincent Peters, Satoshi Saikusa, Mikael Jansson, Jacques Olivar and Juan Martín) and top models, from Linda Evangelista, Jasmeen Ghauri, Nieves Álvarez to Helena Christensen.
They have also developed image and wardrobe ideas for international artists such as Kylie Minogue or Enrique Iglesias, as well as for numerous political and social celebrities.
Malne artists, Paloma and Juanjo first develop the idea for a collection, basing it always on a “story” from their own experience: a trip, a muse, a time in history or a film. Once this leitmotiv is in place the develop a search for textures and styles to apply to the new XXIst century silhouette, without loosing sight of the concept of the modern urban woman that is always present in their work.
The Malne collection is always developed in dressmaking ateliers overseen by the pair, where the technique is direct draping on mannequin and the artisanship of haute couture, which transforms every piece in an object of desire and the so-called Personal Luxury.Personalized Luxury in fashion means manufactures collections of garments that are not subject to large-scale world-wide distribution through large luxury distributors, but are rather small, artistic, haute couture pieces, authored by the designers in the style of the great traditional fashion houses, but with a modern, versatile touch, distributed in very limited series and either numbered, or sold as unique pieces.
The broad experience. in the field of fashion editorials for the most relevant specialized publications (Vogue, Elle) have developed Malne designers’ instinct to the extent that they are able to make educated guesses as to forthcoming trends, objects of desire in the near future, and therefore boast big sales in the coming seasons. Their broad experience as creators and designers for other labels on the runway guarantees results; they’ve enjoyed demonstrable success over the years.
